Phil Graham is a landscape architect that has been a St Petersburg icon for many years. In December he was purchased by and merged into ValleyCrest Design Group. Phil has moved from his location at 436 Second St N. in downtown St Petersburg to this new location at 646 Second Avenue South. As you can see, workers are still putting on the finishing touches.

A new price record for a condo in Pinellas County, Florida, was set this month with a sale on Clearwater Beach in the Residences at Sandpearl Resort. In this photo from JMC, the resort is at the left and the residences are on the right. 50 of the 253 rooms and suite in the hotel are condo/hotel units; there are 117 condominiums in separate buildings, which can share service of the luxury resort such as room service. With completion of Ovation in downtown St Petersburg some 18 months away, it's important to keep the interest of those who have already purchased. JMC, the developer of Ovation, arranged a tour on Thursday for new owners and friends of Ovation to go to Orlando to see the distribution center for Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances. The group of about 20 was able to see and use the appliances that will be in their new condos - and some possible upgrades, such as a wine room. Now we're where I intended to start - we walked across the wide white sand beach from the Sandpearl Resort on Clearwater Beach Florida into the Gulf of Mexico. The water is warm, about 88 F. We walk out along the soft, sandy bottom, beyond the breaking waves at the shoreline, to an area with gently rolling waves. Just before Labor Day we attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony here for the new Sandpearl Resort on Clearwater Beach, the first new hotel to open on the Pinellas County gulf beaches in 25 years. J. Michael Cheezem, president of JMC Communities, has the goal of the Sandpearl being a 5 star resort (so far Tampa Bay only has 4 star resorts) and at the same time preserving a casual, beachy feel. This looks something like a monument, doesn't it? It's one of 195 foundation supports for the new luxury condominium, Ovation, being developed by JMC Communities and The Sembler Company. Caissons - which can be from 40 ft to 100 ft tall, and 2 feet to 4 feet wide - are vibrated down into the ground hydraulically. Who says that only kids can have fun here? The St. Petersburg Downtown Partnership held its quarterly membership meeting at the Great Explorations Museum on 4th Street. It shares a building with Sunken Gardens, Carrabba's Grill and Cold Stone Creamery. David Penn, the Executive Director & CEO of Great Explorations Children's Museum sat in one of the treehouses to speak to us on "Fun Facts about Children's Museums and Downtown Communities." The museum HAS changed since I was last there with my grandson. JMC Communities has announced that as of March 12, 2007, prices for Ovation, a luxury highrise condominium project on Beach Drive in downtown St Petersburg, Florida, will be increasing by $100,000. The decorating allowance offered to early purchasers will also be reduced. Groundbreaking happened last month, and the price increase by JMC is typical of its prior projects.
