Kids of any age can learn to skate this week at the Columbia Ice Rink!  
Children 3 years and up & adults can take lessons at the Mini Winter Skating Session this December 27th - 31st.  There are 2-25 minute lessons starting at 9:45 each day (except Sunday) with an hour of free time on the ice to practice in between the lessons.  The classes are divided into Tots 3-5 years olds and ages 6 to adult.  Parents can sit on bleachers behind a glass wall and watch their future Olympians if they prefer!

A recent survey by the consumer advocacy site NerdWallet named the top cities in Maryland that are most appealing for families. 
They looked at the quality of the public schools, afford ability (mortgage costs, tax rates, other expenses) and whether the area is growing and prospering even as it attracts new residents.

Summer is county fair time and the 68th Howard County Fair runs from now until Saturday, August 10th.
This classic country fair includes 4-H livestock and the kids who raise and show them, lots of carnival rides, live music, delicious food (and some things you only eat once a year at a fair like deep fried twinkies).
