Recently, I came back from a trip and was flying into our local Gerald R. Ford airport. As I was waiting for my luggage, I spottedthe Grand Rapids 2007 Visitors Guide and decided to take a peak as to what was actually in it. Of course, there was the guides to the local restaurants, clubs, entertainment arenas. What caught my attention was the TOP 10 Visitor Favorites. With all the talk of what's going on in the market, I love to hear everyone's viewpoints as to where the Michigan Real Estate market really stands. So I read a lot of articles and of course, have my own point of view. I have to say that for once, I actually agreed with our local newspaper, the Grand Rapids Press about cottages and lakefront homes still remaining a steady market. So we just successfully completed our "group" open house in the village of Sparta. 20 Realtors participated in holding open their listings this Sunday. We even put an ad in the local newspaper and put out all the signs. I would say that it was quite successful. I had 7 parties through and possibly one that might be interested in the home at 149 S. Union as a fixer-upper. The last time I held this one open, I only had 2 visitors, so I had over 200% more success than last! Thanks to Carol Fairchild who organized the event. It's tough out there. Especially today when the Grand Rapids, Michigan housing market is considered a Buyer's Market. If you're not sure exactly what a buyer's market is - it is all about supply and demand. Currently, there is a lot of supply of homes on the market meaning the buyers have a lot of options to choose from. When the supply is low, the demand for your house is high and then it becomes a seller's market - and homes sell like hotcakes!!!

I'm sure most of you have seen those commercials where a female voice is coming from a male's body and is talking about all the things they just purchased. The commercial is talking about stolen identities and of course is promoting getting insurance on your credit cards etc... to prevent your identity from getting stolen. Learn from other people's mistakes (including mine). This is a HUGE issue. Just ask any of the mortgage lenders out there. Let me tell you a story. No one believes that this will happen to them.
