The historic lighthouse may just be a beautiful sight now, but it once served as a travel guide to many boaters and steamers that provided wood and bricks to the New Orleans area. The lighthouse keeper and their family would reside in the keeper's cottage as they tended to the lighthouse duties, greeted visitors, and welcomed home the residents of the area.

This information was released yesterday by  St. Tammany Parish by Sheriff Jack Strain and thought I would share with you. Another great reason to live in St. Tammany Parish!
The numbers show that crime was down in almost every category in St. Tammany Parish last year.  Significantly, there were zero murders in unincorporated St. Tammany for the first time in recorded history. The numbers were equally impressive in other categories.   The number of reported rapes, aggravated assaults and batteries are also down substantially from the previous year.
