high forest ranch: What are your "Seven Wonders of the World"? - 09/21/07 09:43 AM
A group of students were asked by their teacher to list what they thought were the present "Seven Wonders of the World."  Though there were a few disagreements, the following received the most votes:
-Egypt's Great Pyramids -The Taj Mahal -The Grand Canyon -The Panama Canal -The Empire State Building -St. Peter's Basilica -China's Great Wall
While gathering the votes, the teacher noted that one student had not finished and turned in her answers.  So she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list.  The little girl replied, "Yes, a little.  I could not quite make up … (17 comments)

high forest ranch: Ice Cream for the Soul... - 08/10/07 02:56 AM
A friend of my mother's sent this to me this morning...Not only do we need to teach our kids, but we need to learn from our kids as well!
Last week, I took my children to a restaurant.    My six-year-old son asked if he could say grace. As we bowed our heads he said, "God is good, God is great. Thank you for the food, and I would even thank you more if Mom gets us ice cream for dessert. And Liberty and justice for all! Amen!" Along with the laughter from the other customers nearby, I heard a woman remark, "That's … (15 comments)

high forest ranch: Dear Abby... (Funny) - 06/25/07 04:18 AM
Dear Abby,I've never written to you before, but I really need your advice.I have suspected for some time now that my wife has been cheating on me.The usual signs; phone rings but if I answer, the caller hangs up. My wife has been going out with "the girls" a lot recently although when I ask their names she always says, "Just some friends from work, you don't know them."I always try to stay awake to look out for her coming home, but I usually fall asleep.Anyway, I have never approached the subject with my wife. I think deep down I just didn't want to know … (23 comments)

high forest ranch: Red Marbles... - 06/25/07 03:19 AM
RED MARBLESI was at the corner grocery store buying some early potatoes. I noticed a small boy, delicate of bone and feature, ragged but clean, hungrily apprising a basket of freshly picked green peas. I paid for my potatoes but was also drawn to the display of fresh green peas. I am a pushover for creamed peas and new potatoes. Pondering the peas, I couldn't help overhearing the conversation between Mr. Miller (the store owner) and the ragged boy next to me."Hello Barry, how are you today?""H'lo, Mr. Miller. Fine, thank ya. Jus' admirin' them peas. They sure look good.""They are … (3 comments)

IMPORTANT: I'ld feel bad if this happened to any of you and it could have been avoided by seeing this... Maybe it's because my dad was a firefighter growing up and I have a brother who currently is a firefighter that I feel this is important. Could be the most important thirty-seconds of your life. Sincerely,Troy  Here's something someone shared with me on the proper way to put out a poton fire on the stove if you don't have a fire extinguisher. This is a great video. Everyone should watch it and remember it. When Iwas stationed in Charleston Navy base at … (4 comments)

high forest ranch: Old Age is Like a Bank Account... - 06/08/07 04:40 PM
A 92-year-old, petite, well-poised and proud man, who is fully dressed each morning by eight o'clock, with his hair fashionably coifed and shaved perfectly, even though he is legally blind, moved to a nursing home today. His wife of 70 years recently passed away, making the move necessary. After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, he smiled sweetly when told his room was ready. As he maneuvered his walker to the elevator, I provided a visual description of his tiny room, including the eyelet sheets that had been hung on his window. "I love it," … (8 comments)

high forest ranch: Words to live by... - 05/29/07 08:54 AM
Some Good Suggestions for Life:
ONE. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully. TWO. Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other. THREE. Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want. FOUR. When you say, "I love you," mean it. FIVE. When you say, "I'm sorry," look the person in the eye. SIX. Be engaged at least six months before you get married. SEVEN. Believe in love at first sight. EIGHT. Never laugh at anyone's dream. People who … (3 comments)

high forest ranch: Top 15 Police Comments from across the country... - 05/28/07 01:54 PM

The following 15 Police Comments were (purportedly) taken off of actual police car videos around the country.
#15 "Relax, the handcuffs are tight because they're new. They'll stretch out after you wear them awhile." #14 "Take your hands off the car, and I'll make your birth certificate a worthless document." #13 "If you run you'll only go to jail tired." #12 "Can you run faster than 1200 feet per second? In case you didn't know, that is the average speed of a 9mm bullet fired from my gun." #11 "So you don't know how fast you were going. I guess … (27 comments)

high forest ranch: Is it Between You and Them... - 05/11/07 04:12 AM

They may see the good you do as self serving.Continue to do good. They may see your generosity as grandstanding.Continue to be generous. They may see your warm and caring nature as a weakness.Continue to be warm and caring. For you see, in the end,it is between you and God.It never was between you and them anyway.

high forest ranch: Heaven's Grocery Store - 05/05/07 03:33 AM
HEAVEN'S GROCERY STORE
I was walking down life's highway a long time ago.  One day I saw a sign that read HEAVEN'S GROCERY STORE.  As I got a little closer, the door came open wide.  And when I came to myself, I was standing inside.
I saw a host of Angels...that were standing everywhere.  One handed me a basket and said, "MY CHILD SHOP WITH CARE."  Everything a Christian needed was in that Grocery Store.  And all that you could not carry - you could come back the next day for more.
First I got some PATIENCE.  LOVE was in the … (3 comments)

high forest ranch: Isn't this supposed to be for Top Producer Software? - 05/05/07 03:13 AM
Well it doesn't seem that this group is being utilized for the reason it was created.  I would really like to get some good blogs on here to discuss and share ways that others are using Top Producer.
I have a feeling some people might misunderstand the title to mean top producer as an agent who produces a lot, rather than Top Producer the Real Estate database management software.
Please let me know when info not pertaining to Top Producer is at least somewhat cleared out and I would love to get involved.
Hope I am not the only person who … (1 comments)

high forest ranch: God's smoke signal... - 05/02/07 05:33 AM

The Bible tells us to rejoice always. Sometimes that's easier said than done...
The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him. Every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements and to store his few possessions. One day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, with smoke rolling up to the sky. He felt that the worst had … (32 comments)
