Craig took this cute picture at Citrus Park Mall and when I looked at it, it reminded me of an expression my Mom used to use when we lived in England (usually when she was surprised or dismayed). So I went agoogling and tried to find out what it means.
Seems like no-one really knows. It’s an old English expression that has shown up in the works of T.S. Eliot and P.G. Wodehouse and according to the OED, James Joyce’s Ulysses but that doesn’t explain it.It seems to have come from Cockney verbiage. As everyone knows, rhyming was used … (20 comments)
