The SPCA Suncoast of New Port Richey, FL has found a forever home for Victoria the pretty black & white cat in an earlier post. Fannie, this sweetheart doggy, needs a home. Fannie's story: Fannie is 4-5 years old and was originally brought to us as a 2 year old stray who was heartworm positive. We treated her successfully and put her in our adoption area. New Port Richey-Kernaghan & Moore Speech & Language Therapy Services Ribbon Cutting Event The West Pasco Chamber of Commerce recently participated in a Ribbon Cutting Event at Kernaghan & Moore Speech & Language Therapy Services located at 7633 Cita Ln, Suite 101, New Port Richey, Florida 34653. Kelly Kernaghan and Amanda Moore are licensed Speech/Language Pathologists who earned their Master of Science degrees from the University of South Florida and are certified by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA).
Victoria has been at the SPCA Suncoast since September. This is Victoria's second time at our shelter. Last year Victoria came to us after she was found at the New Port Richey Post Office. She was about six months old and she was so sweet she was adopted right away. This year, in September, she was seen wandering in Anderson Park. She was very thin and dehydrated. These charming pink birds are Roseate Spoonbills at the watering hole in LongLeaf today. This is so exciting because we never see Roseates in my part of Florida, usually they stay further south. These must be young 'uns because they still have feathers on their heads. Spoonbills are large wading birds with pink plumage and spatulate beaks. Almost hunted into extinction because of their beautiful pale pink and deep pink feathers that the ladies liked to wear on their hats and fans; what no-one realized at the time was the feather color fades rapidly. The Women's Resource Center of Tampa Bay, Inc. is holding it's first annual Quacktacular Duck Derby on November 21, 2009. (A Green Event). The Derby will be at Sims Park in New Port Richey, FL. Proceeds go to purchase a transitional house for homeless moms and kids in distress. What a great day out with the kids! They can enjoy the play areas at Sims Park or you can all cheer on your favorite ducky on his swim down the Cotee River. Homes sales statistics for the West Pasco (New Port Richey, Port Richey, Hudson, Trinity areas) for the month of October. Homes sales are up a bit from September; however, 40% are short sales or pre-forclosures/foreclosures).
Homes are obviously selling in the under $100,000 range; lots of them are selling to investors. The toughest market is the $300,000.+ range. Home prices have gone backwards with most pricing falling in the range that homes sold for approximately 12 years ago. … (0 comments)

BikeFest- New Port Richey, FL The West Pasco Chamber of Commerce held it's Fifth Annual Cotee River BikeFest on Oct 9, 10 & 11. It was a huge success and lots of fun. We were there working in the hospitality tent during the day on Saturday (It was hot, hot, hot).
