Florida Bankers Push For Non-Judicial ForeclosuresThe Florida Bankers Association (FBA), a lobbying group representing banking institutions across the sunshine state, has presented a new bill to Florida's Congress aimed at accelerating the foreclosure process. The bill, ironically titled The Florida Consumer Protection and Homeowner Credit Rehabilitation Act, would shift state property laws and establish "non-judicial" foreclosures as early as July 1. We stopped in at Caposey's Whole Works Restaurant located at 5250 Green Key Rd., New Port Richey, on a rainy, cold Saturday. The food is wonderful, the people are friendly and the decor is cows, cows, and more cows (lots of really cute ones). Nancy & John Caposey are the owners, chef (John) and hostess +everything else (Nancy). We woke up to 28 degrees on Sunday morning; I looked outside and our pond had ice on it and so did the birdbath. My husband, the sweetie, heated some water to take out and defrost the birdbath. However, he didn't want to go back out to take this picture so I put on my snowsuit and this is what I got.

If you're still coming down from the holidays, maybe this will be a quick fix. We were at Disney during the holidays; we go because it ‘s always decorated so beautifully. Each hotel has something special and different. The Beach Club Resort has a chocolate carousel that is totally edible (but, of course, you're not allowed to touch!). These two little guys were checking out our yard. We gave them some pistachio nuts and they seemed really happy. They were a little shy at first but not for long. They usually only come out at night and raid our bird feeder but they must have been very hungry; there were even a whole bunch of golfers out behind them. Looking for Christmas goodies maybe?

The SPCA Suncoast of New Port Richey held a Ribbon Cutting event with the West Pasco Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the remodeling of their cat quarters. The ribbon cutting was held on Thursday, November 19, with the Ambassadors of the Chamber, many volunteers, workers and friends of the SPCA. These charming pink birds are Roseate Spoonbills at the watering hole in LongLeaf today. This is so exciting because we never see Roseates in my part of Florida, usually they stay further south. These must be young 'uns because they still have feathers on their heads.
Spoonbills are large wading birds with pink plumage and spatulate beaks. Almost hunted into extinction because of their beautiful pale pink and deep pink feathers that the ladies liked to wear on their hats and fans; what no-one realized at the time was the feather color fades rapidly.
