Ruidoso, New Mexico hugs the lesser-knonw Rocky Mountains located in southern New Mexico. Sierra Blanca seems to envelope the village and becomes skiers to change their trip planning from Colorado to New Mexico. The ski resort, Ski Apache, may not be a household name, but it should be with all the great skiing that can be found there.
Like much of New Mexico, Ruidoso has amazing weather all year round. The weather is usually mild, drawing out the adventurer in everyone and inviting you to go hiking, climbing, camping or biking, especially in the Lincold National Forest.
If you're less of an outdoorsman, take in a casino - or two or just hang out and have some mint juleps at the Ruidoso Downs race track. There's plent of other things to do as well. Get your tee on, and go golfing in the perfect weather. Or, hit the local museums and take in the culture of the Southwest.
