The good ones share

Real Estate Agent with @Home Real Estate

I've been really impressed lately.  I guess I've been practicing what I read in the secret.  I'm not exactly sure what it is.  I'm always looking to learn, and improve my knowledge base and systems for what I do.  To do it better, and do it quicker is the goal.

Well when I first got into real estate, -  (This was of course, years and years ago.  Don't worry, I'm not one of those who still uses my black and white high school photo on my business card.  Even though I probably do need a new photo.)  - I reached out to a bunch of, what I thought at the time, people who were super successful agents.  It's always been my understanding that the successful people shared.  I thought they did this for many reasons (1) they were successful (2) they liked helping people (3) they were successful - I know I said this, but basically they're good, and you're not as good - otherwise you wouldn't be asking them for help/ideas/advice, whatever + (4) I don't know, isn't 3 enough reasons?

Well, to continue, I reached out to a bunch of these "super successful" agents.  And approximately 0 (yes, Zero) responded positively or even semi-warmly.  I'd say of the 8 or 10 that I reached out to 80% didn't even respond to my 2 entreaties.  I know it was at least 2, because I'm not one to give up after the first try.  The other 2 people, who did have the "kindness" to reply, simply said something nice that when paraphrased equaled = "leave me alone, I don't have time for you."  I mean, I was blown away.  Shoot, Napolean Hill, and everyone who says to learn from others.  Even the Giant positive power speaker Anthony Robins? - They all say learn from others.  Well that's what I was trying to do.  But no one was being very sharing.

So I went off, and did things my own way.  I'm happy.  I've succeeded.  I've gotten through challenges.  Today I have more challenges, and hopefully more success.  But I'm still always trying to learn.  So I happened on a few other agents, who each was an expert of some area of our field.  I'm saying that.  I don't know if they'd all say that.  Again, going back to the book, "The Secret."  It is a great book, that should be in everyone's motivational library.  Well I must have been practicing the teachings well lately, because this latest group of expert agents did decide to share.

That's the way it should be.  The sharing I mean.  We should all share.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not giving anyone my PIN # to my bank account.  But wouldn't we all be better for it if we keep raising the bar to what people can be.  And raising the bar to what a real estate agent, or Realtor, can be?!  Let's do it.  I'll share whatever I've got.  And in the meantime, thank you to those people who have shared with me!

Jeff -I definitely think you have the right attitude.  This is what makes AR such a great community.  If you want to learn something, you can read and/or talk with experts who are more than willing to share.
