Hi Everyone, I've been thinking about taking a Spanish Class. So in my hunt for the right one, I ran across a website that boasts FREE language courses. Complete Courses. Texts and Audio to go with it. My granddaughter has been wanting to study German. Guess what, they have a free German course. The site is FSI-Language-Courses.com

Just about everyone I know likes FREE. That's always the price that's right! We've all heard the saying, "There ain't no free lunch." Well, there's not..., BUT YOU'VE ALREADY PAID FOR THESE CLASSES WITH YOUR TAX DOLLARS.

The Foreign Service Institute has developed many foreign language courses for use in training your government employees. They are in the public domain and are made available to you and me and anyone else that wants to go online and get them through this website. The website is not affiliated with a government entity:

"Courses here are made available through the private efforts of individuals who are donating their time and resources to provide quality materials for language learning." (per the website).

Wow. That's amazing. Now that I know that I can go online anytime to this free site, I can finally get rid of the "Learn a Language" programs that I bought but never had time to use.

I know what you mean. I bought a Spanish Course that was not user friendly. Wasted money. At least, if these don't work out, you won't have any money invested in them.

Hi Judi,

I checked out the link for French--after all, the Beautiful Olympic Peninsula stares across the Strait of Juan de Fuca to look at Victoria BC.

The text downloaded just fine--in French. The tapes looped into download mode, but never did. I'll go back and check it out later. Maybe my mind has already gone to bed, so i guess I'll follow it there.

Sounds like a winning site. Thanks for sharing it with us here on AR.

I have downloaded both the Spanish and the German without a problem. I will check to see if I can download the French.

Sherry, Yes. The French is downloading fine. I just right clicked on an individual tape link and chose "Save Link as...." and it downloaded.

Free courses of this kind are either a trick of scammers or a pointless waste of time in any case. I think it's better to turn to a decent service and a reliable tutor who have real experience. It might be better to find a native tutor. If you have such experience, say in Spanish, then you can try to register yourself on https://livexp.com/jobs/tag/spanish-tutors-job/. Do you think you would have coped with such a task?
