Erie, Pa : Home Staging expert's "house flipping" blog in local paper

By
Home Stager with Creative Spaces

Home staging expert Gretchen Wheeler , and her husband Randy, are presently "flipping" their 4th home in Erie PA. In a recent article in the Erie Times News, Gretchen was quoted as saying "I think one of the hardest things when rehabbing a house is not overdoing it. It is so easy to just keep adding extras. There is such a fine line between creating "selling points" in a house and adding something because you know it would look good ( or be really fun to do). The decorator in me wants to add glass tile backsplashes, and built-in window seats, but the flipper in me is counting every penny we are spending, keeping an eye on the profits."

You can follow along as the Wheelers transform an eyesore into a beautiful investment at their new blog: www.creativespaceserie.blogspot.com

I am so envious.  Flipping is something I have wanted to do for years.  I find the research, creative process and the end results so fulfilling.

Thanks to you both! It is so fun to see these homes transform. I love being able to really "stage" them starting from the beginning with paint colors and flooring all the way up to the final touches. I will definitely post some after pics!

Hi Tom!

We figured there must be something out there to clean bricks, but we didn't even bother looking because this was in a house that we fixed up for someone else (they were selling it). For some reason they didn't want us to do anything with the fireplace ??!! Sometimes we don't ask :) Those were those fake "Z bricks", do you still think it would work on them?

I looked at your website- it looks great! When I have more time I want to look at all the before and afters. I realized with this last house that I'm not cut out for blogging. I just can't seem to keep it updated! We sold this house in less than a month and will have our closing soon, and I haven't put any of it in the blog yet.

Thanks, and happy flipping! Gretchen

I have acid washed old tile floors in bathrooms and kitchen and it works wonders.  Great flipping project!

Rehabbing a house can be tough! Great article and I will be reading the blog frequently. One thing about Erie is the weather that can make any construction project tough! We have the same thoughts from our customers at http://erierentalproperties.com
