Desparately seeking... Active Rain Guidance!!

By
Real Estate Agent with Fathom Realty

My co worker and I recently hosted a Home Buyers Seminar.  We marketed the seminar by mailing seminar specific postcards to a target audience for about 2 months prior to the event.  We did not receive any registered buyers prior to the event, but hoping for a great outcome we moved forward as planned. We did happen to have 2 couples attend, but  they were there from a personal invitation, not through our target marketing.

My question to all of you is how do you advertise and target your audience to make your seminars successful?  We know that seminars are a great idea and we do not want to give up, but as you all know it is a costly trial and error process.  I would love to know your inside tips based on your past experiences.  I probably should have come here first for your advice before we planned it. But I didn't - bad choice for me, however, after it was not successful I knew where to go to get the help I needed. Active Rain... There is no place like it !!

Krista, this is one thing I would definitely use the newspaper for.  I did a home buyer's seminar a few years back and just 2 small ads in the paper brought us about 20 attendees, which I thought was pretty good for a Saturday morning.

Thanks Lisa- We have scheduled our next seminar for Jun 13th and we will be using your advice! We also thought we could get the local paper to do a little story on it and try more Internet marketing as well. I will definately be posting what worked and didn't work as far as marketing after the seminar.  Wish us luck!
