People Make the Difference
This realtor, Maria Morton in Kansas City, is making a difference. Similar work is being done on a global scale by Soroptimist International http://soroptimist.org We Americans have so very much to be thankful for. It is only when we travel outside our borders that we realize this. Be well and avoid kissing pigs, this week.
The first well drilled from proceeds raised by our Twestival for Charity Water was started April 11th at a village in Ethiopia. You may recall me talking about the KC Twestival in a previous blog post.
Women of this village walk 5 miles to carry 40 pounds of water back home. Can you imagine? Hyena attacks make the trip for the water rather dangerous. This video from Charity Water shows the well being drilled with all the people of the village turning out for the big event.
Sometimes we feel as if our lives are difficult but when I think about walking 5 miles to carry drinking water home, my life doesn't seem hard at all. I have water in my kitchen sink, bathroom sinks, and even a spigot outside for watering my plants. How lucky am I?
Today, I am feeling grateful to have hot & cold running water.
