The value of time off...

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Consultants Realty 2001002071

I've been pushing it pretty hard this summer, working a lot of hours (Up between 5 anf 5:30 and at it and working until 11 or 12 at night), spending a lot of time knocking on doors, touring buyers and in general spending a lot of time with clients and not a lot of time off.

This past weekend, I took a few days off and the family and I headed to Lake Cumberland for a few days of boating..What a change!  I'm back at work today and eager and ready to go!  I'm always amazed at how much better I feel when I just take time to recharge.

Don't forget...the early bird gets the worm, but the burnt out bird gets run over on the way across the street!

Ryan, so true!  Unfortunately, I think I'm fast becoming the "burnt out bird."  Note to self:  take a day off.  :)

Not wanting to get ran over! I take frequent breaks but as my grandfather says "make hay when the sun is shining"

This career is one that can cause someone to get burned out very easily if they are not careful.  Finding balance in your life can be hard, but essential for your well being and able to perform on the highest level.  I block out time on my calendar for myself and family and consider it just like any other appointment.  Lake Cumberland...bet the water was great!  Haven't been there in a few years.

You must recharge and stay fresh. You are the most important tool in your business.

I completely agree!  When we take time off, even if just for a day or an evening of uninterrupted family time, we feel more able to deal with all that comes at us the rest of the time!  Taking a break here and there is healthy!  Glad you had a great time!

Good advice Ryan.  When I first started back in 1970 I was told by the top producing loan officer in the country to take weekend off and recharge.  Unfortunately I have not always taken his advice and suffered accordingly.
