NORTH END GALLERY - Original Art By Southern Maryland Artists
The oldest art gallery in St. Mary's County offers a diverse collection of original fine art, jewelry, and crafts by as many as 35 juried artists and artisans from Southern Maryland.
The North End Gallery of Leonardtown is committed to promoting work of the finest traditional and contemporary artists of Southern Maryland. The rich and historical area along the rolling farmland and magnificent shores of the Chesapeake region provide an inspirational setting for artists working in many different mediums, including oils, acrylics, watercolors, hand-pulled serigraphs, sculpture, pottery, jewelry, decorative art, stained glass, painted silk, and photography.
The gallery features a diverse and vibrant roster of emerging and renowned artists who are committed to developing their craft and who support the arts throughout Southern Maryland. The mixture of functional and fine art reflects their eclectic and ever-changing commitment to providing new and exciting work for display.
The gallery works change every month. The First Friday's of each month are reserved to celebrate the featured works of select artists and are marked with a reception from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. The public is warmly welcomed to share in these celebrations, meet the artists, and get an early peek at newly released art.
Join the North End Gallery as they present a new show titled "Local Color" . This will be an All Member Show with each artist presenting their idea of the theme.
The show will hang from September 1, 2009 until September 27, 2009 with the First Friday reception on September 4, 2009 from 5- 8 P.M.
Come join the North End Gallery on the First Friday of each month, between 5 and 8 PM, as they open a new show with a reception for the public. The First Fridays are becoming a community event with many businesses staying open until 8 PM. Leonardtown has wonderful restaurants and shops to enjoy. Make these First Fridays a permanent event on your calendar.
