Located in Black Diamond, Lake Sawyer is the 4th largest lake in King County and is where some of the best Bass fishing can be found (or so I've been told).
The lake is approximately 286 acres in size and at it's maximum, 58 feet deep.
Because it is the largest boating/wake-boarding/jet ski lake in South East King County, prices for waterfront real estate are considerably higher than on some of the smaller, non-motor lakes in the area. At the very Southern end of the Lake is a magnificent view of Mt. Rainier. I have great photos I'll have to find of when my parents lived on the lake with a drop dead view of the Mountain in all it's glory.
On the South West side of the lake you'll find the public boat launch next to a small park which is one of my favorite places to stop for lunch or just a few minutes to enjoy a beautiful afternoon.
The Eastern side of the Lake is serviced by the Tahoma School district, while the homes on the West side fall within Kent School District boundaries. There are a variety of types of waterfront on Lake Sawyer; some homes on an Island (accessible only by boat) others located on "the boot" (a narrow channel of the Lake) and those on more open water. Building and construction falls within the City of Black Diamond jurisdiction.
Water sport on the Lake is strictly enforced by Police boat and speed limits are seriously monitored. The maximum speed allowed is 35 MPH and this only during posted hours: M-F 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Saturday, Sunday and Holidays 11:00 am - 3:00 pm.
All other times the speed limit on the lake is 5 MPH.....which is just perfect for an evening boat ride to watch the sun set.
If you haven't visited the park at Lake Sawyer before, I encourage you to stop by. It's gorgeous!
