Elk Grove Realtors spent yesterday building the first Christmas CanTree in Elk Grove at The Secret Garden on Elk Grove Boulevard in Old Town.
This is the 27th year for the SAR Christmas CanTree, which is one of the major charitable efforts of the Sacramento Association of REALTORS®. The Christmas CanTree Project routinely raises more than $65,000 per year. Since 1983, SAR has raised more than $2 million to feed Sacramento's hungry citizens.
The food donated will be distributed to needy families through The Salvation Army's Holiday Food Basket Program. Over 45,000 local families are expected to benefit from the food contributed through CanTree, according to The Salvation Army. The Army currently serves 36,000 meals per month in the Greater Sacramento Area. CanTree is a critical factor in successfully feeding thousands of people at Christmas time.
Come celebrate the season, tonight, November 24th from 5:30 - 7:30 at the Christmas CanTree Lighting Kick-off event. This special event benefits the Salvation Arm with a portion of the proceeds going to The Elk Grove Food Bank Services. Come stroll through the garden at The Secret Garden sampling appetizers from local restaurants and wine from Carvallho Family Winery. Please bring an item to help fill the holiday food baskets.
Hope to see you there!
