Town of Wickenburg~Ordinance No. 1059

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with West Maricopa County Regional Association of REALTORS®

On Monday, December 7th, the Town of Wickenburg will consider amending Ordinance No. 1059 to require payment for garbage and refuse collection in Wickenburg for both occupied and non-occupied residences and businesses.  WeMAR is concerned that the ordinance could lead to any of the following:

•·         In order to get other city utilities turned on (water and sewer), REALTORS® could be required to pay for trash services on vacant foreclosed properties because the bank or owners cannot be contacted.

•·         Landlords could be required to pay for trash services between tenants even though trash is not being produced.

•·         Citizens who move out of Wickenburg but cannot sell their homes before they move, could be responsible for trash service while their vacant home is on the market and not producing trash.

Therefore, Amanda Wright from Mario E Diaz & Associates will be attending the Town Council Work meeting on December 7th at 5:30 PM to voice our opposition.  We encourage you to at attend with her.  Please contact her at 602-224-0210 if you plan to attend.

Last week, WeMAR sent a Call to Action because the Town of Wickenburg planned to consider amending Ordinance No. 1059 to require payment for garbage and refuse collection in Wickenburg for both occupied and non-occupied residences and businesses. Monday, the Town decided to remove the item from the agenda because the Utilities Director will not be... See More able to attend, which is the person that would have addressed our concerns. The Town could place the item on a future agenda, so keep an eye out for Call to Action alerts from WeMAR in the coming months.
