Twas the night before listing
When all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even their mouse;
The pillows were plumped on the sofa with care
While visions of dollars danced in their heads
The Stager with vision
Had left them a plan ....
Start out on the lawn with a ladder
They'd sprung to their feet to see what was the matter
Away to the windows they'd flown, to wash
They'd nailed up the shutters and thrown out the trash
The updated lighting now shone on the new fallen snow
Giving the luster of midday to objects below
Then what to the Stager's eyes had appeared
But a miniature collection of eighty tiny reindeer
With a hand so lively and quick
Away from the shelf she did strip
More rapid than eagles her pen it had flown
And she'd pointed and noted and called them by name:
Out clutter, out plunger, out photo, out trash
Down toilet seat, hang show towel, dust and clean
From the top of the frig! To the top of the wall!
So up to the housetop the sellers they'd flown
With hands full of tools ... nary a moan
They did what the Stager had shown
The windows did twinkle! the taps did shine!
They knew in their hearts the house would show fine!
Their Realtor would come;
They'd settle on a sum;
The sign on the lawn, so bold
Soon would say SOLD!
