If you've racked up a lot of debt on your credit cards, you're not alone. In fact, of the 90 million households in the United States that own at least one credit card, the average debt totals a whopping $10,691, according to CardTrak.com.

Jim:  I usually either recomment that my buyers or sellers who have lots of debt either take all of what they can pay extra... and pay it on either the debt with the highest interest rate... or on the lowest payment amount of all their monthly payments... and when that debt is paid off... that that amount, and add it to the extra you were paying... and pay all of that... on either the next highest interest-rate payment... or the next-smallest payment amount.

That way you are making progress that you can SEE every month when the payment statement comes.  I find that it motivates folks better when they can actually SEE progress.

I'm sick of the ads where the company promised to get your credit card debt reduced 50% or more.  Just PAY the darn debt if you incurred it and quit whining!
