South Jersey Wildlife: White-Tailed Deer

If there is one thing South Jersey has enough of, it is deer. With the development of new homes and neighborhoods throughout South Jersey, deer only have so many places to go.

The other day I was able to count 19 in my backyard, all at once. We had fun looking and laughing, including a young deer that decided to run the full length of my yard and ajoining field, full speed, several times. (Once I get a chance to edit the video I will post it).

Take a look at some of these shots, including my favorite, the deer's tongue sticking out from eating from my bird feeder!!

Steve, we have a lot of deer behind our house too. They come out just before sunset and we really enjoy watching them.

Does your son enjoy watching them?  I bet if you let him wild they would scatter quickly!

Steve,  I always enjoy photos of deer or watching them.  We had a lot by my Mom's cabin but they moved further down the mountain before the weather got too bad.  My favorite is also the one by the bird feeder.

Holy smokes.  Where do you live, on a wildlife preserve????  And they come right to the bird feeder?  Lucky you.

Steve ~ Great shots of your friends.  Not very nice of him to stick his tongue out at the man that feed him.  I had about 14 wild turkey in my back yard Thursday morning all I had with me was my phone, I will have to upload them.  I love watching the deer.  They are very smart and know when to hide from deer season here.  We also have a big family of them on our road.

Hi Steve, I love deer. We have them here on Long Island but further out East. Seems like you get all the wildlife! :)

Steve-I love the deer! I know they jump out and become a nuisance to a lot of drivers, but what fun to catch them up front and personal!

It's funny...everyone wants to come down here during winter and I want to go up north. It looks beautiful up there. Did you shoot any? Make some jerky? Hahaha  Just kidding

Nathan - My brothers hunt, and we get jerky, sausage, steaks. I enjoy it. I never hunted a day in my life. I went once with my brother when he went squirral hunting. I froze my butt off.
