A note to my young Democrat friends.

Being a life long Democrat, yes there are really quite a few of us. We, Democrats have had our share of great people even in my life time. We had the likes of

John F. Kennedy who I would have matched up with even the great Ronald Regan as far as backing down the Russians and Cubans.

Bill Clinton, as morally as he was wrong he led the country at into a time of prosperity as did his successor George W. Bush.

The Republicans had the worst President of last century Nixon until someone convinced us Dems that Jimmy Carter could be like George C Wallace. But I don't think anyone would disagree that Barrack Obama will probably be the worst of this century but hey the Republicans have 90 years to find someone worse and stranger things have happened.

As a Democrat growing up in the south, I thought being a Democrat meant you worked hard, earned your money, owned the nice little home, lived within your means and helped your fellow man. Unlike the Democrats of today, where you take everything for granted and expect the government to supply what you are too lazy to have.

My dad ran a store and damaged goods were given to the needy, when he died there were people that owed him hundreds of dollars, equivanlant to thousands in todays standards ( mostly Democrats) how do I know, my dad was a blue dog Democrat and probably would not have loaned a nickel to a Republican but he would have fought beside em and did to protect and defend this country. But I remember after his funeral all but one person paid all that money back to my mom, every dime of it.

I say all the above to say this, it not only shocks me but truly hurts me as a Democrat when I read a post like one I read today the trailer park crowd wishing Glen Beck was in a car wreck or when we throw pies at women Republicans. These are the same Ho's that think it is ok to have hard working people pay for their nine kids, worhtless BOfriends living in the house and while down at the food stamp office swearing up and down no one but her and her kids live in the home. While her Bo friend is at the unemployment off bragging about his ole lady being knocked up again.

We true Democrats have to take back our party back and run the Trailer Park people back under the trailers from which they came. The only way to do that is for you younger Democrats to lead and quit being led by Trailer Park Pelosi and her Bo friend Dirty Harry. These and the likes of em are not Democrats, they are ego parasites. We need the John F Kennedy and George C Wallace Democrats to step up.

Hi Charles...Why are you painting with such a broad brush?

To say "Unlike the Democrats of today, where you take everything for granted and expect the government to supply what you are too lazy to have.

Also is "trailer park" supposed to be demeaning?  Think again.  There are plenty of good people that live in trailer parks...some Republicans, some Independents, and some Democrats.

I wonder if many arguments are won using terms and statements such as these.

Charles, as a Republican (for the most part), I love your stand on this. If there are patriots, they are patriots.  If not, most likely they are egotistical parasites! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I would agree, the dems of today are definitely different than years past!

George C. Wallace - wasn't he the governor of Alabama who wouldn't allow his state schools to be desegregated? And you want more Democrats to be like him???

And not for nothing, bur Kennedy only showed his true mettle after being quite embarrased in his first attempt at talks with the Russians. Khrushev ate him alive and spit him out like yesterday's trash...and Kennedy's aides had warned him not to engage with Khrushev directly, but he insisted.

I take it that you would have preferred Hillary to be running the country right now? Or worse, McCain?

And you call yourself a true Democrat. Although, I must agree, we need to get away from a culture of subsidizing failure and instead encourage economic self-determination, as you have pointed out.

Except for your George Wallace comment, i agree with most of what you said.I used to be a Democrat and still vote and support ( $$$) a few, but Obama, Pelosie, Dirty Harry have moved me out of the party to the GOP

Kathleen, Trailer Park is a southern thang, like barefoot and pregnant. You know the #1 selling home in Alabama and Arkansas is trailers.

William, obviously you are not from the south, although I don't agree with what George did, he was following the law. I had a conversation with him in 1970, he said that was one of the hardest things he ever had to do. Most don't know that he was a prosecutor before Governor and prosecuted whites for crimes against blacks. Laws change as do people. BTW Women weren't allowed to vote and even in some Asian countries they aren't allowed to walk around with their heads uncovered. I don't agree with that either.

Joe, George had his faults and ask for forgiveness but he was not only a great Governor (BTW he got more black votes 10 to 1 over even his black opponent his last two terms) he was a man that upheld the law and didn't make it up even when it was not popular. He quit when he couldn't change it.

Folks,

Our problem in Washington D.C. is not a single person, party, or program, and certainly isn't a particular race.  Our problem is that we've abdicated our responsibility and our authority.  We vote based on such insignificant things as "He is so handsome, articulate, etc."  We fall for the shallow rhetoric, fail to challenge the hollow claims, empty promises, and ignore the foolish notion that a few billion more will fix the problems.

I'm not trying to start a revolt, but I see one coming...We are headed for another Boston Tea Party--but it won't be in Boston, it won't be tea, and it won't be a party.  I, like a lot of Americans [yes, that is my affiliation] I'm tired of arrogant, self-serving, self-promoting, snakes crawlling into every aspect of my life.  As Real Estate Professionals, we have to be self-starters, disciplined, hard-working and self-reliant citizens.  The housing problems have their origins in politicians who (for self-gain) forced banks to adopt unsound lending practices, refused to oversee FannieMae & FreddieMac, and seized upon the economic downturn to spend our money to pay-off their political backers.

I'm an old country boy, and understand you have get rid of the nests of snakes... We have to take our votes serious, and vote unselfishlessly for WHAT IS BEST FOR AMERICA.  If we don't take back control of our liberties, we will all be stamping out metal pieces on a government owned assembly line, saying, "Thank you Mr. Politician.

Real Estate Professional and the Independent Truckers may be the last of the cowboys.  Saddle up!

Hi Charles...Being Southern is no excuse for demeaning people.  That shouldn't be a Southern thang.  I've lived in Virginia for almost thirty years now so I know about some Southern thangs and no matter how long I live in the South I'll never have admiration for the old George Wallace.  Or are you referring to when he became enlightened and apolegized to black civil rights leaders?

I'm pretty much with Don and Fred on this one.  They all make some very good points.

My thought:  We are getting farther away from God and the principles upon which this country was founded.

The Government closest to the people governs best.  Why?  Because we can march down to City Hall and give the elected official an ear full...we probably know his mama and can let her know that her boy is making people mad.  We probably work with his best friend and confidant, and his kid may go to school with my kid.  Furthermore, we know his true character, his reputation for doing what he promises, and his integrity enters the room ahead of him.

Even the State House is within driving distance.  Then there is Washington D.C. and all those inbred politicians--elected, then appointed, then lobbiest, then appointed, the re-elected; and his wife is working for some power-broker.  You can't swim in a septic tank without getting in the mess!

We need (1) term limits, (2) part-time congressmen, and NO CAREER POLITICIANS.  Furthermore, we need to do away with the corrupting power of seniority.  Lobbyist should only be able to address public assemblies--no overseas junkets, no vacation trips in conjunction with lobbying efforts.  Finally, IF a politicians lies to his constituents--bring him home!!!  Time was that ministers & deacons were known as men of integrity, and reconized as credible leaders--maybe we can summon some of them to at least go to Washington and monitor proceedings and then report back to us.

Frustrated ramblings!!!  Truth is, as a granddad I'm committed to helping my children & their spouses to "train up a child in the way he should go..."  We grandparents need to be activist for "the old paths" and instill worthy values of HONESTY, COMPASSION, KINDNESS, TRUSTWORTHINESS, INTEGRITY, INDUSTRY, SELF-CONTROL and PATRIOTISM in the minds and hearts of the oncoming generations.  Let's make them "America's Greatest Generation!!!"

Woops, old preachers just can't help ourselves when we see wrong going unchecked.  God Bless America in OUR generation!!!
