This coming Saturday is the 4th Saturday of the month, so the weekly Prosper, TX resale home tour will consist of four resale homes in the mega-luxury $1 million-and-over category.
Who buys in this price point? An entrepreneur. Someone who has been financially savvy. Someone who is in a profession that may require a good amount of entertaining. A celebrity. A well-known sports figure. The owner of a title company. And, many others.
Surprisingly, many times the $1 million-plus buyer is a family of two. Empty-nesters in some cases. People who put career achievement over family expansion in other cases. They tend to be charismatic people. They aren't shy. But, I have found them to be a little more relaxed in nature than their counterparts in the other price ranges of home ownership. Money doesn't buy happiness. But, I have never met an uptight $1 million-plus home buyer. The last one I worked with literally walked in to the office (who walks into real estate offices anymore??? WOW!) and asked to see a home in Plano. He was a young guy who made a killing in the early days of the internet. Didn't all of those move to Seattle? Guess not. He came into the office in jeans and flip flops. I've never met a $1 million-plus home buyer who looked for their home dressed to impress. Think Richard Branson...they're casual the minute formal isn't called for. They may require a specific car for their home tour if they ride with you. I once had an appointment to show a home in $2 million dollar Frisco, TX home to an NFL first-round draft pick. There may be an entourage. Or, their size may just make getting into a regular-sized vehicle a bit of a burden. Sometimes, you have to plan ahead for a home tour of this kind.
Not everyone is Warren Buffett - richest man in America, yet living in the same modest home he's owned for many decades. Some people want that visible statement of arrival. There's nothing wrong with that, and we have a few homes in Prosper, Texas that they just might like.
