Single Family Detached Condos in Virginia Beach

Single family detached condos in Virginia Beach offer an alternative to yard work with the advantages of your own home.  Some condominium complexes are tall buildings with elevators, others are a collection of one or two story units resembling apartments or townhouses where each is connected to the neighbor sharing common walls on one or more sides.  These are often clustered into buildings of four to eight residences.  Generally, those are what someone thinks of when they hear the word condominium.  But a condominium is merely a form of ownership where each unit is deeded separately, but shares an undivided portion of the "common elements" which commonly include parking lots, sidewalks, and yards but may also include clubhouses, pools, parks or recreation facilities.

Because a condominium has shared ownership of the common elements, the cost of maintaining these elements is shared amongst all the owners in the condo association.  Contrast that with a community of single family detached homes where each owner is responsible for maintaining their own yard, roof, driveway, and everything about their house.  But what about those who want the privacy of their own structure, yet don't want the full responsibility of maintenance?  Well, in the past decade or so, a new hybrid has become more common in Virginia Beach; introducing the Single Family Detached Condominium.  Although exact responsibilities can vary from one association to the next, these communities generally maintain the front yards of the residents from plant material to watering to lawn and shrub maintenance.  This ensures a uniform neat appearance throughout the community while allowing each homeowner the privacy and individuality of having their own structure that is not connected to a neighbor.

There are nineteen condo associations in Virginia Beach that are comprised of single family detached residences.  With the popularity of this style of ownership and structure, it's likely to be around for quite a while.  If you are considering buying or selling a condominium or any other real estate in Hampton Roads, call me today to discuss your needs and learn how I can help you reach your goals.
