It always surprises me when I accompany buyers on their home inspections to discover the woeful lack of sufficient insulation in the attic spaces of the homes they are buying.  It is not uncommon for home inspectors to report just 2-3 inches of insulation present.  Think of it. . . in these days of high heating and cooling costs, homeowners neglected one of the easiest ways to reduce those costs, simply by adding more attic insulation.  We shouldn't wait for a house to "turn over" before investing in additional insulation to make our homes more comfortable and efficient.
