Perseverance in a Challenging Economy - Calvert County, MD
As so many Moms (and Dads for that matter) have done for years, I have spent many an hour on the baseball field watching my son's games. Now as much as I love baseball, most would acknowledge that baseball is not the fastest moving game - allowing time for a lot of introspection.
This weekend was no exception as to time spent on the field, but with a college double header that totaled 26 innings of baseball, it was a different day as to time for any introspection. This was a day for a lot more gray hair to be had by all. The first game ended in a grand slam to score the winning runs after a see-sawing battle (our team came out on top thank goodness) and the second in a 0 - 0 tie game called due to darkness.
I need to take a step back for a moment. This team came into this double header with several heart-breaking losses this past week, as well as some games where they were just plain tromped, a team that came into the season as a #1 conference prospect, which leads me to my next point.
With all that excitement in these two games, it should come as no surprise then, that my time for introspection came after these games.
Many a parallel has been drawn to the importance of sports as to instilling a competitive spirit and how sports positively impact performance in the business world and life. These games made me really think about the parallels between baseball (substitute your favorite sport) and real estate (substitute business in general/life).
As we face challenging economic times, perseverance will keep us in the game. It's taking a few more innings these days to get the job done, but home plate's calling and as the saying goes, giving up is not an option -
- WE HAVE TO REEL IN THE BALL FROM THE WALL.
