Step 3: adjust your Twitter settings
Like with any other web application, adjusting settings is just a way to get the most out of it. Nothing exciting in this post, just needs to be done...
If you have followed my two previous posts, you should have by now created your Twitter account with a good Username, added a picture, your location, your website and a keyword rich Bio.
To get to the Settings section, click on top of your Twitter page on "Settings" ( you need to be logged in your Twitter account).
- Account Tab
In this section "Name", "Username" and "Email" should already be completed from the two previous posts. Make sure to adjust"Language" and "TimeZone". I personally have checked "Tweet Location" and un-cheked "Tweet Privacy" as I want my tweet to be public. - Mobile Tab
This is where you can enter your phone number which will allow you to receive and send tweets. - Notices Tab
This is where you can select to receive emails from Twitter for the following 3 reasons: when someone starts following you, when you receive a direct message, Twitter's marketing emails. I have all those un-checked as I do not need to receive extra emails. - Profile Tab
Everything should be already completed from the two previous posts. If not it is your chance to come clean...Remember completing your profile is very important as it allows other folks to find you. - Design Tab
Offers a few pre-designed themes to use as your Twitter background to customize your Twitter account. Easy and fun... - Connections Tab
There are 100,000s of third party applications that integrate with Twitter. As we keep on learning about Twitter, we will go through few of them. Those applications usually need to access your Twitter account and they appear in that section so you can revoke their access at anytime.
That was easy...
