Even the Damselfies need to stop flitting around every once in awhile. This one decided to take a break and have a little brunch in the garden. Damselfies are related to Dragon Flies and they love to hang out around the pond in my daughter yard in the UK.
Cindy,
The diversity of Nature really is amazing. Look at the shape of that body.

Nice shot, Cindy! Unfortunately, these beauties have only a short adult life after emerging from their immature stage in the water and they seem to spend most of their time laying eggs in the water, if females. But all the while we enjoy them aplenty, don't we. At the pond, don't miss seeing the water beetles and water striders.
Get out this Sunday and enjoy what nature has to offer!

Hi Cindy, Great shot and cool photo. Thanks for sharing, enjoyed the post. Enjoy the holiday weekend.
You are right. Everyone (everything) needs to stop and smell (munch 0n) the flowers every now and then....
You are so smart ! I wish I knew more about the creatures in my back yard...I think you have inspired me!
Cindy: Never heard of a damslefly. Very interesting looking critter for sure. Maybe this is where the term "bug eyes" comes from. Look at the size of those things compared to it's head.
Very nice shot Cindy, I have never heard of a Damselfly but it sure is pretty. Have a great weekend...
Cindy...What a great message - we all need to slow down and enjoy life (smell the roses). I love the picture!
Rich-we had a discussion tonight as who thought up a creature that looks like this?
James-they do more in their short lives than many of us do in our entire lives.
Kristin-there are some really fastinating creatures lurking outside our doors. Though some of them I hope stay outside!
Chris Ann-they are strange looking creatures. Bug eyes and pencil thin bodies. I guess a look only another Damselfy could appreciate.
Cool picture of the damsel fly. I have a few of them fluttering around my Koi pond... Helping you help others live their American dream...
