Annual Kids Day Parade In Cotati

The Annual Kids Day Parade In Cotati kicks off at 10AM on Saturday, July 17th, from the Ray Miller Community Center at 216 E. School street. This parade isn't just for kids. Adults, community groups and businesses are also invited to attend. And to start your day out right, be sure to check out the Annual Pancake Breakfast that takes place right before the parade begins.

The theme for this years Annual Kids Day Parade is Adventures In Candy Land.

HOG members, harley davidsons, clo the cowYou guessed it, all parade participants are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Candy Land board game character. The Redwood Empire Chapter of the Harley Owner's Group will get things revved up and roaring as they lead the parade through the streets of Cotati. Personally, I would love to see Gloppy from the Chocolate Swamp on a white Harley-Davidson Fat Boy but ... OK, maybe that is asking for too much.

After the Annual Kids Day Parade in Cotati, there will be a festival in La Plaza Park. The park will be decorated to match the Candy Land board game. I, for one, will be visiting that chocolate swamp, right next to peanut acres. (Just so you know, I'm having to consult my Candy Land board game in order to come up with this stuff, I do NOT have this committed to childhood memory :).

In the park there will be music, jumpy jumps, painting, food, crafts and games. Be sure not to miss the diaper derby sponsored by the Cotati Chamber of Commerce. And just so you know, the parents are the ones to watch! The festival runs from 10AM to 3PM, during and after the Annual Kids Day Parade.

So come to Cotati on Saturday, July 17th and join us in some small town fun!

My daughter used to LOVE that board game.  I have GOT to call her and tell her about this and see what character she would have been.  What a cute idea.

Tammy - it IS a cute idea, I love it. My Candy Land game is just about shot, I was glad I hadn't tossed it so I could reference it for this post.

Barb - it's a fun game to play, my granddaughter is hooked on it.

Malcolm - if I didn't have a granddaughter I wouldn't have the board game. In doing research for this post, I found out that this game was introduced in 1949. A woman in San Diego created it while she was recovering from Polio. 40 million games have been sold, so a lot of folks have played this game at some point in their life.
