Top 3 things home sellers can do to improve showings

Yes, you can improve your home showings with 3 easy steps…

1)      Curb appeal, you only have one chance to make a first impression… make sure you look at your own home through buyers eyes,  keep the grass mowed, weeds pulled, flowers and plants watered, if you have children make sure the bicycles and toys aren’t cluttered in the driveway and yard (put away)

2)      Clean, make sure your home is so clean it sparkles… Also it’s time to depersonalize and pack all knick knacks and collectables in boxes; after all you’re getting ready to move right?

3)      Smell, is very important… vanilla, cinnamon or apple pie scents that mimic the smells of baking are popular, but so are tropical smells like mango and pineapple

Remember look at your home through the buyers eyes…. Happy showings

All great items!  No matter how clean it looks: if it smells it won't sell!

I would add #4: Leave the house when it is being shown, a seller just gets in the way and makes buyers uncomfortable.

Yes Robert I agree, Sellers are always encouraged to be absent at showings.... How else could a buyer ever imagine themselves owning the home.... Instead they imagine they are just looking at the sellers home!

Great tips, Shannon!  Another one is to make sure that pets are "invisible" to potential buyers.  Nothing can kill a sale quicker than a buyers who isn't a fan of cats or dogs (or is allergic to them).

Usually most homes need about a third of the furniture removed as well to help improve traffic flow and make the space appear spacious.  Removing small items can make a huge difference!
