One of the best kept secrets in the MetroWest area is Callahan State Park in Framingham.

Located across from Mill Farm Public Golf Course on Millwood Street, the park is really more like a series of mini parks.  The 820-acre area has seven miles of marked trails. The trails are used for hiking, horseback riding and cross-country skiing.

Crops

You will find in Callahan State Park that there are nearly 100 acres of open fields.  Seventy acres are currently under agriculture lease and many people actually plant some pretty substantial crops on these grounds in the summer months. You can see the fields of corn as you walk through these lovely grounds.

The park is situated right in the middle of a residential area and is friendly to those who love to take their dogs out and remove the lease to let them run free.  At the park's entrance you will find special pet instructions and plastic bags to allow you to pick up after your pet.

Within Callahan State Park there is a pond and grasslands that are outstretched for miles.

Callahan State parkWell-marked trails and trail maps will help you in your day of picnicking, walking or even mountain biking in this lovely, underutilized North Framingham forest land and recreation area.

Take a ride around and explore North Framingham's beautiful wooded sections and you never know what you will find.

Claudette...what a neat spot..how nice that it is in your place in the sun.  MA does have it's share [ & maybe other's too] of snow & winter, so how much more should you enjoy the green areas, trails and views of summer-crops. Have a good rest of the week.
