A good friend of mine, Mark Borkowski, an Engineer by Avocation and an Indusrial Sales Consultant by Vocation, once advised me of this rather neat idea as to how to add more and more prospects to your S,O.I. and that idea was so simple, I really never gave it a thought, until I started to advise my Agents of the idea.
Every community, large or small, have "business luncheons," and Mark started going to them. How: he'd call the ads posted in the local newspapers advosing of the Busines Luncheon and who the speaker was. By reading up on the topic that the speaker of the day was to deliver a talk on, he was quite prepared to discuss it at the lunch table. And who would be at the lunch table? Obviously, those who were members of the group/club/ institution! Here he'd sit, eat some "rubber chicken"( his quote, not mine!) and he'd be the only one of his profession at the table, which usually consisted of 6-8 attendees. By doing this 2-4 time s a month for about 10 months, he'd add at least 20 prospective clients to his data base. Even if they were not even remotely interested in Industrial Sales /Consulting, he'd have over a 5 year period about 150 contacts! Those 150 contacts multiplied over the years so much so, that the referrals from these buisness people he'd meet resulted in him garnering a 6 figure income!
I've had Mark out to our Sales Meetings sevreal times over these many years and each time his address to our Agents is greeted with great enthusiasm. Think about it! fro less than $50.00 a week, you can add at least 2 people to your Sphere of Influence and derive not only additional income, meet some new friends and learn something new each week!
