The Wallop of the Red Front Door

By
Real Estate Agent with Smart Green Realty

It is amazing how much impact an eye-catching front door brings. Here in Philadelphia, PA, land of row houses, the house with the attractive front door really stands out. The door does not have to be red: One successful flipper goes for the elegant look with shinny black front doors--often with matching shutters. Hunter Green is always nice. That shade of blue that the Brittish like works well. When in doubt though, a classic red makes a house stand out like the cherry on the ice cream Sunday. "I've always wanted a red front door," my sophisticated executive buyer told me. Sellers take note!

Zeta, "wallop" is a great word to describe that feeling you get when something surprisingly stands out from the rest.

Hello Zeta:

This is a neat idea, but I don't think our CC&R's here in Sun City Texas will allow such coloration.  Thanks for the tip.

This is very true, anything that makes your property "pop" out from the rest is a great thing!

I agree that the front appear sets the stage ! My father often added a pen-eve to differentiate a townhouse he was selling .

Hi Zeta ~ a freshly-painted front door is always on my list of tips for sellers.  As a professional home stager, I recommend the entire front entry be "spiffed up" with sparkling clean windows, some colorful flowers, new door hardware if necessary, and attention paid to the outdoor light fixture as well.  We also suggest a fresh new doormat and remind sellers to powerwash the driveway and walkway to the front door.  That first impression is so important to gain buyers' interest.
