Tell me something good that happened to you this week.
Last year I wrote a few blog posts about our son, D V Fennell who is a PRCA bareback rider that lives in Neosho, Missouri.
D V is doing well again this year, currently ranked #12 in the world and just recently had a birthday. Number 37.
The youngsters that compete in bareback riding sure do give him a hard time about being the "old man"... you know how that makes his mama feel? .... You got it... OLD.
D V uploaded this shot via his phone to his facebook page this week.
Last year at the National Finals, some of the guys got together, bought a cushioned rocking chair, had D V's name painted onto it and then they all autographed it. They had it waiting for him when he got to the dressing area one night. He chuckled and treasures the chair but the rocking chair that he's sitting in this photo is much more his style than one with two runners on it that sits on the floor.
We were so happy to see DV make one of his dreams come true last year when he got to compete in the "World Series of Rodeo... the National Finals Rodeo" but he sure is making a strong bid to attend this year again. Wouldn't that be awesome!
Another one of his goals was to meet Bruce Ford. He got to meet and spend some time with Bruce back in July. Bruce is the one that D V saw ride on tv when he was a kid and right then and there he decided that he was going to be a bareback rider.
Things get busy and DV knows I worry if I don't hear from him.. got a text a couple of days ago.. letting me know that all was well, he's just been hittin' the road hard competing in rodeos.
I go to Prorodeo.com to keep up with DV's World Standing. Help me cheer him on this year and pray that he stays healthy. I sure would like to be Vegas again this year for the 2010 National Finals Rodeo and watch him ride. Last year he came in 4th in the Finals... WAY TO GO DOUG! (this mama's always proud of her kids). ;)
So that's my feel good story this week. What's yours?
