First Look - The HGTV Dream/Green Home in Bluffton

I feel I'm the investigative reporter...  If you've been following the hush hush thread about the HGTV Dream/Green Home, you'll know there is a lot of secrecy about the actual home and location.  Well, after some prodding, prying and Geraldo Rivera-like thinking (sans the vault thing), I offer a few recent photos of the well guarded structure in Bluffton.

There has been local talk about the "green" home being build in Palmetto Bluff.   Until recently, I thought the home was being built by a private individual with a wonderful sense for the environment - something very important to the local mind set.  But after visiting the HGTV blog and website, I knew this had to be the place.

A few crude photos of the home under construction.

As a sidebar, this is not the first time HGTV has built a Dream Home in Beaufort County, SC.  Back in 1998 they built a gorgeous home on Lady's Island, SC, being one of the first Dream Homes to start the legacy.

I don't know, but if HGTV is spending so much time in South Eastern South Carolina...  where would you want to invest?

Expect weekly photos and updates.

Stacey,

Palmetto Bluff just posted the 2007 Holiday Coastal Cottagephotos on their website, My husband and I have been thinking about buying a lot in that community to build a second home.  I would love to know what you think of the neighborhood from a "local's point of view".

The tips I received about the HGTV green home must have been confused with Coastal Living's Holiday Cottage. Thanks for the clarification.  This is worth a blog post.

To answer your question, Palmetto Bluff is simply world-class.  I have logged a number of posts about Palmetto Bluff at my blog.  Having had the opportunity to visit other resort style developments in the area (Kiawah Island near Charleston, and Spring Island in St. Simmons, Ga), Palmetto Bluff easily exceeds these resorts, by far.  And, I can honestly say this without a local bias (I can be very critical of some of our local developments), but Palmetto Bluff is an amazing place.  The Crescent Resort developers have an incredible attention to detail and a great reputation.  Many in our area are still stating that Bluffton will become the Hamptons of the South.  With redevelopment happening in the Old Town portion of Bluffton, along with Buckwalter Place, we have only experienced the beginning of what is in store for the Bluffton area - in terms of growth and reputation.

If you have not had the change to visit, it needs to be seen to be appreciated.  The Wilson Villiage area is just the beginning of the development.  There will be three more distinct phases, each offering a central "commercial" area with shops and dining.  The two other areas listed on the site are simply residential areas.
