Refresh Your Bathroom in Your Halifax Home With Little Money, But a Big Payoff

When it comes time to sell your Halifax home, you want it to appear as appealing to potential buyers as possible.  As we discussed in our last blog, upgrading the kitchen commands great returns in resale value, but so does freshening up the look of your bathroom to make it more inviting.  There are many ways to freshen up the look of your existing bathroom with little money, but with big payoff.

bathroomBathrooms appeal to buyers when they are clean, organized, and look new.  You can spend thousands to achieve this look, but if your bathroom is functional, you may not need a complete remodel to make it appealing.  Try a "remodel-lite".  This is refreshing a room using only a few new items with a minimal investment out of your pocketbook.

By replacing a few key pieces and repurposing things you already have, you can make a significant impact on the style and functionality of your bathroom.

Even on a limited budget, you can refresh or repaint the cabinets and replace the hardware for a more updated look.  Putting on a fresh coat of paint can also update your bathroom for little money.  Using cool colors, you can create a calm, serene setting or use darker colors for a warm and inviting feel

Simply adding new accessories, such as a towel bar, towel bar hooks, shelves and robe hooks, can easily and inexpensively (for less than $100) provide additional space and storage while adding style to your bathroom.  Another way to add the allusion of space to your bathroom is by adding a curved rod to your shower.  You will, in fact, add a few centimeters of elbow room inside the shower, but it will also look more spacious in the overall look of the bathroom.

One last inexpensive approach is to add soft touches.  In a room full of hard, slick surfaces, you can soften the feeling by adding soft, plush accents such as fabric shower curtains, rugs, and new towels.
Potential buyers will smile at the fresh, chic bathroom knowing they can move in and immediately enjoy the benefits of their new Halifax home!

Hi Roy

It is HUGE when Realtors can speak confidentally, and early on to their sellers about getting a property in the best possible condition. Funny, everyone knows the buzzwords, but always think it's other peoples' homes that need attention.

Cheers, Marie

Isn't that the truth, Marie.  Any seller needs to evaluate their home & at least do the minimum to make it more attractive to buyers.
