Wouldn't It Be Nice

House In the Snow

OK - I'm aiming for a blog a day for the next 30 days. But if the weather doesn't break I'm going to be a johnny-one-note. This is just why I didn't blog much for a good part of the summer - you don't want to hear what I have to say when I'm this aggravated.

It was in the upper 90s with high humidity again today.  Ugh.

We (just me - but I may be starting a trend) had a Bring Your Parents to Work Day - my parents brought work to my office to get a break in the A/C for a few hours.

There were more people in the office today than I expected - turned out that a number of people figured that nice and chilly office air conditioning sounded pretty good.

One more day... one more day.... one more day...

Stay awake in the AC Liz. Hurricane "My Name is Earl" will cool you by Saturday or Sunday. Nice to have you back on the blogging trail.

Liz - I love Jane, but does she have to rub our noses in how great it is in her neck of the nation? Geez!

One more day, then... what the heck is up with Hurricane Earl.... <biting my nails here>

At least we have fair warning for a hurricane (sometimes TOO much), but not so much of a warning for an earthquake. Ha!

Hi Michael ~ I'm putting the welcome mat out for Earl. Love the weekend forecast!

Hi Andrea ~ It was a brutal day! Oh if we could only run out and roll around in that snow!

Hi Judy ~ Ha! I don't know about LA but I do think San Francisco is my idea of weather perfection. Good one re the warnings!

Liz ~ Remember how aggravated I was by the rain a while back? You helped with your comments about embracing the rain. I have a different mindset since then. I almost called you at the time to tell you that, but it was a Tuesday and I thought you might be on your weekly tour of homes so of course that moment passed. Right about now I wish I had called.

I had to laugh at the picture of snow. As hard as it is for you to imagine it. This too will pass. The next snow will come and you will be wishing for warmer weather. (That's my way of saying make the most of it - that snow is closer than you think and not nearly as much fun in life as in a photo).

Liz, I am sorry the heat wave you are in, so I will not rub it in, but in Marina Del Rey today the high was 64 degrees and sunshine:)) sorry could not help it. BTW I have a picture from the south end  of Boston, about 15 plus years ago it is very simmilar to your post, it hangs in my home office to remind me why I am in California:))

I hate winter and love summer so I'm always crowing about how I'll never complain about the heat. And I haven't. This summer has tested me though. At least I have some icy cold AC...

Liz,

We can always talk about the weather. Yes it is hot and humid in Baltimore..thank goodness for Air Conditioned homes and cars.

And this past winter (Was I the only one who enjoyed it?) was the subject of quite a few of my posts. Gorgeous colorful birds and deep deep snow.

I love the change of seasons on the east coast..sometimes we have all four seasons in the same day.

Liz   even with the heat, the hurricane and all, I am not so sure I am ready for snow yet!  LOL.  I'm afraid we are going to see a lot of white stuff from what I read about the predictions in the Farmer's Almanac.  I'm just hoping Earl stays away!

Hi Jeff ~ I'm no fan of the alternative either - but right now it looks mighty appealing.

Hi Denise ~ Good to hear you came to terms with the rain! Fingers crossed we'll be getting some of that tomorrow. I agree - all too soon I'll be bumming out about short, cold days.  I'm definitely a fan of moderation as far as weather goes.

Hi Steve ~ Doesn't that malarkey about "dry" heat kill ya?  Though I will say this H&H is pretty suffocating.

Hi Endre ~ I chuckled when I read your comment on my phone.   Your weather sounds fabulous.

Hi Julia ~ I do take some pleasure rubbing it (the incessant heat) in with the self-proclaimed hot weather fans. Even they are pretty much done with this - not all of them, but many.

Hi Margaret ~ This summer has really tested my principles re air conditioning (none in my house but happy to have it in the office). I'm on a countdown now - counting the hours until Earl brings in the cooler weather.

Hi Joan ~ Truth be told neither am I.  If I could have some nice snow outside right now to dive into - the way people do after a sauna - I could get in to that.

Lliz, does it make you feel better to know that we're having one of our rare heat waves these past two days? High 90s - low 100s. Tonight feels a tad cooler than last night, so I think ours is breaking. Just think, you'll be reveling in those glorious autumn days soon!

Liz....I know..it is funny how quickly we forget in New England when we are complaining about the weather. I hate the humidity but summers ARE too short!

But YOUR blogs are great!!!

Keep cool...hopefully we won't get hit by Earl!

Elizabeth, we are living similar lives. We don't get the snow but we get the rain and I'm so ready for it. You are so cute in sharing with us your Summer blues. When you look at the weather around the world, we have lots of strange things going on. We have had the mildest summer ever. Of course, I've only lived here 5 years. My neighbor always negates any observations I might have with many years of expertise on the matter. "Weather patterns change", he says and that's that!

Liz, Glad the heat waves are over.  My cat was not well most of the summer and I think the heat got to her too....She's more herself not.

Liz,

I hope the weather cooled down a bit in your area but let's not go quickly towards what your picture suggests.  No complaints in my neck of the woods.  The weather is slightly warmer than usual for this time of year but I am getting lot more opportunities than last year's (when it actually snowed on this date of the year) to take photos of the fall colors.   :)
