The Benefit of Demand Over a Need

Pointing people in the right direction seems so trivial sometimes.  What people need and what they demand are not always aligned.  If someone needs something we have to offer but the demand to get it is not there, what good is wasting precious energy trying to convince them they need it?  This can be seen when someone needs to lose weight but ends up eating potatoe chips and watching reality television.  The demand to change is not there.

So when we have a service others will eventually need what is it that is going to determine them choosing us?  Show them how our service matches up with a demand.  Perhaps they feel owning a home will always be unattainable because of bad credit or lack of a down payment.  Instead, show them the feeling of belonging to their dreams or the appreciation felt for sacrifices made along the way.  The motivation to take the necessary steps to achieve what they demand will grow.

It is a fact people do not need to own a home.  That is demand.  However, when people really need to lose weight, they need to be shown how losing it will give them a feeling of belonging or the convenience and improvement it will bring into their life.  When we avoid pointing people in the right direction we demonstrate how they are the ones who take responsibility in fulfilling these demands.  Remember the old saying about leading a horse to water.  When dehydration sets in the brain shuts off and says they are in fact not thirsty at all.
