SCHEDULE TO MEET TWO NEW PEOPLE PER WEEK TO INCREASE NETWORK

REAL ESTATE AND BEYOND TEAMExperts tell us that they key to any successful business is networking with other professionals. How many of you are networking with professionals on a weekly basis? I have decided to meet two new people per week since the start of this year. I have to admit that it does make a difference. I continue to build the Real Estate and Beyond Team with like minded individuals who are there to serve. I believe that REAL ESTATE IS A TEAM SPORT. I see many people in my profession suffering because they want to work on an island. I shake my head and wish them good luck. We all need each other to get through this real estate hump.

TWO PEOPLE THAT I MET THIS WEEK:

  • I had the honor in meeting with a local General Contractor who wanted to learn more about fixing and flipping homes. We chatted for thirty minutes. There was a lot of synergy between the two of us. So, he is ready to do real estate investing. Also, he will be creating a real estate investor group to purchase distressed homes to Phoenix Fix and Flip. He will be in charge of all remodeling of the homes. This was a great meeting. I just sent him my first investor client that needs assistance on a Phoenix Fix and Flip.
  • Met up with a successful financial adviser. I learned the difference between a Certified Financial Planner and Financial Adviser. One of the great benefits of meeting people from other industries is the learning part. I was searching for a financial adviser to send my clients. Then, he informed me that he has no relationship with a Realtor. So, that relationship will only blossom over time.

 TAKE ACTION

It is time to get out of one's COMFORT ZONE. I believe that really networking with local professionals will only enhance a person. People are very impressed when I explain to them the Real Estate and Beyond Network. I have developed a group of like minded people who specialize in their own industry. We communicate with one another on a weekly basis via in person, phone, text or Email. We make things happen.

I am challenging all ActiveRain members to meet two new people each week. I guarantee that you will see a difference in your real estate business. We all need each other at one point in time.

Harry~ Great advice.  I added a network group back in March but hadn't put any specific number equation to it. I think this is an excellent idea and also a way to set a goal.

Harry--Good advice. I am going to try to do it. I am a lawyer, and we are the most insular people on the planet

I once heard a mortgage Professional whose name escapes me say that you need to dedicate an equal amount of time to old and new relationships that you have created.

I'm actually supposed to be meeting 3 new professionals a week.  It needs a little more work on my part.

Hi Harry -- Impossible to argue with this advice.  Plus, you never know who knows who and who you may need personally, or may end up calling you indirectly.

I'm definitely adding this to my Business Plan.  I always make it a point to meet new customers, but never really considered Business People.

Harry, when I started in 1985, my Broker suggested that once or twice per week, I take someone in the industry to Lunch.  Fellow Realtor, Lender, Appraiser, Title Closer, whoever.

I took that great advice.  To this day, I have lunch several times per week with people in the business.  Relationships, Referrals, and more result from this practice.

Aside from the relationship with the person I am taking to lunch,  the Restaurant Owners and Employees whose restaurants I frequent, know me well.

I get:  1.  Better Service (including food quality),  2.  Business from the servers and employees.  3.  Business from the Owners.   One restaurateur, who has become a personal friend, has netted me tens of thousands of dollars in commissions from his own Real Estate Sales and Purchases.

This is in addition to the Relationship forged when you "break bread together" with people in the industry, or potential clients (and, when you pick up the check).

Get out there and press the flesh!

I've been so focused on finding new clients I've let this area fall off the radar, thanks for putting it back on my screen!

It seems that we still need to schedule time face to face with poeple to gain relationships. People want face to face time. I have scheduled my two new people next week. Keep it simple-try 1 new person per week.

This concept and suggestion has been around for years. As a young girl my father would take up to trade shows and I was lucky enough to sit in on the seminars. From the 80's to now, the way we communicate has changed but the concept is still the same... build your network or you will not build new business. The name of the game is numbers and most of us need to set goals in order to achieve this.

Cudos to you Harry for taking a proactive stand and achieving your goal weekly!
