I didn't want to leave Maui the last time I visited there - you sure do live in paradise.

Juli - I know what you mean.  We vacationed here a few times and then decided to move here temporarily...that was over 5 years ago!

My brother has lived in Maui (Kihei) for almost 20 years.  Unfortunately, I've only been to the Seven Sacred Pools one time.  The one time I did go we saw people diving and jumping off the cliffs, so I figured "what the heck... let's give this a whirl".  When it was my turn, I stood on the edge and looked down to the water, and it looked a lot higher up from where I was standing, then when I was down at the foot of the pools.

I stared at the water trying to talk myself into jumping, but couldn't do it.  I started to think maybe I should just walk back down, then a voice behind me said "Mister, do you mind if we go around you"?  It was two 15 year old girls and they basically punked me in front of God and man.  :)  At that point, there was no turning back... I had to go.  After they jumped and swam away from the landing, I went for it and I jumped in feet first (ha ha, no cliff diver her) and as soon as I hit the water I took a blast of water to the right ear and that was one of the most painful things ever to happen to me in my life.  I was in pain for 2-3 days before it finally cleared up.  The pain was pretty bad, but not as bad as the pain I would have felt, if I would have walked back down that little cliff with my tail between my legs.  :)

I know Kihei is not a real large area... have you ever ran into this tribe before?

Cory...great story.  It never looks as high from the bottom...isn't it funny how the perspective is so different from the top. I'm not a big fan of jumping off high rocks...but have done my fair share here.

Sorry to say I don't recognize anyone in the photo...however, the youngest boy and the father look a bit familiar but not sure why.

Next time you visit...perhaps getting on a stand up surfboard might be more to your liking than jumping.

Aloha
