Ken, thanks for the notice. I haven't tried it before, but it seems that it is very well targeted with the options they give you as far as area and demographics. Thanks for passing it along. You will ahve to have a follow up post on how it worked for people and if anyone gets some sales off their $50. Thanks

We've been using Facebook ads for over a year now, both to point people to our Facebook fan page and to our website. We've gotten good results for both, and the cost per click is pretty reasonable. Definitely worth a try for those who haven't yet!

Leslie just gave me a good idea. I see plenty of Realtor magazines that get tossed in the recycling. I hope you can use the coupons more than once.

Great advice, Ken. Facebook ads are a great way of getting folks to your listings. They've worked for me in the past.

Michael Lissack,

I can only assume that you were in the "No one is going to look for houses online" crowd back in the 90's?

Facebook Ads can be incredibly pinpoint accurate. Say, for instance, that you only wanted to advertise to people who are engaged. People buy houses after they get married, right? Well then engaging (ha) them when they are married seems to be a pretty strong advertising tactic. Is it your contention that all advertising is bunk?

I could only guess that you don't in fact believe that. Advertising has some value. So it would then follow that targeted advertising would be more valuable than non-targeted......and for the price right now, it's very easy to target certain people using Facebook ads.

Or, maybe you could get a little more creative. You can also advertise to people who work for a specific business. Have any builders in town? If you knew what you were doing you could set up an advertisement that only shows to employees of that builder.....maybe even the guy making decisions on who sells their next sub-division full of houses. They probably aren't going to pick the phone up and call you from the advertisement, but it could open the door to you getting your foot in with them when you call them. ("Yeah, your name rings a bell.....I can't quite place it, but it rings a bell".....of course it rings a bell, he stares at you every time he logs into Facebook to check on his kids and grandkids, multiple times a day)

Or maybe there is a company that relocates a lot of employees to your area. Your Facebook ad could run only to folks working for that company and it could offer 'Relocation Services with a X% rebate for XYZ Employees' or 'XYZ Employees get a Free Appraisal on Your Home Purchase'.

The potential in these ads is just being tapped. You can target specific groups. I wonder if there are any investor groups on Facebook? You'd think there are some kind of groups that would be highly desireable. I bet there are some Naples Florida groups on there.

The contention that people don't go on Facebook looking for houses or REALTORS so no point in advertising there means there is no point in any kind of advertising. I never turn on the TV to look for a new car. I never drive on the freeway to buy insurance. I mean, I see insurance ads on billboards and car ads on TV, but I never buy right then. It's brand awareness, and it makes me more susceptible to that advertisers message in the future.

This is probably a post of it's own.....sorry Ken.

At the end of the day....It's free.....it seems worth a shot.

Hi Bob, Kathy, Michael, Sharon, Terri, Chuck, Ross, Nicholas, Tim, Ben, Yuno, Reshawna, Scott, Jason, Kim and Aaron.  Thanks for stopping in.

I wrote this post a few days ago, and was hoping for a good response.  It just was featured today!

Yuno, I prefer the cost per click.  I have tried both, and the CPC gets just as many impressions and insures traffic to your page/site...

Chuck, try tweaking your ad a bit.  If you are running a CPC ad, you aren't spending any money, but you certainly want some traffic w/ your ad...

Scott, I don't know if you can use a code more than once.  Leslie is banking on it!

Unfortunately, the coupon/code cannot be used if you are already a paying customer (like me)!  It still is a great way to give them a try...

Obviously, $50 spent on marketing isn't going to get anyone a whole rush of sales.  They take time.  But I still think they are worth the investment...

Why do I like Facebook Ads Michael?  Hmmm.  500 million users?  Highly addictive?  Everyone needs a place to live?  I know people don't go to Facebook looking to find an agent.  But that doesn't mean the ads don't work.  Similar to a commercial.  When I am watching a football game, I am not car shopping, yet car companies still run ads...

This coupon expires Nov. 30th, so if you are thinking of using it, don't delay...

Thanks again everyone,

Ken

I haven't tried FB ads. Has anyone had any consistant success with them? I'd love to give them a try, but I don't think $50 would be able to tell me for sure that they work or not.

Hi Eric, Jack, Glenda, Debbie, Lanre, and Bob.  Thanks for stopping in.

Glenda, the code does work.  Perhaps you are already a customer?  It only works for new customers.  I used my code to set up an account for my wifes page!

Bob, very thorough answer!

$50 won't be enough to judge whether ads "work" or not.  They work, but like any marketing, it takes time (and sometimes money).

Thanks again everyone,

Ken
