Hello and welcome back AR members after the Thanksgiving break! I didn't have much time last week to blog, unfortunately, so let me take a moment to wish you a Happy Late Thanksgiving! I hope you spent it well and had an all around great holiday.

Now, who's ready for Christmas shopping? haha.

Continuing on with my series of A Newcomer's Guide to Galveston, Texas, I thought it would be appropriate to talk about some fun things to do in Galveston now that 'the weather outside is frightful'. :D

First things first, Galveston has Schlitterbahn Waterpark. I don't know if you're a fan of waterparks, but if you've never been to a waterpark in the cold of winter, you haven't yet experienced all that Schlitterbahn has to offer. The entire park is open during the summer season, which is April through September. When the weather cools, the Wasserfest Indoor Waterpark opens for the fall and winter season (October through March). As is the case with each of their waterparks, Schlitterbahn has filled the Galveston Island location with tons of unique and innovative rides, making it a perfect spot to stay cool in the summer - or winter.

Another neat place to check out(that I've mentioned quite a bit before--so I don't really need to go into TOO much detail, right?) is Moody Gardens. Visitors crossing the causeway to Galveston will surely see the pyramids rising on the western side of the island. Those pyramids are just part of magnificent Moody Gardens. With attractions that include several aquariums, an IMAX theatre and even a rainforest, Moody Gardens is a must see for Galveston visitors.

Also, coming up very soon is a Galveston favorite-Dickens on the Strand. Dickens on The Strand will take you and your family on an enchanted journey through history as a bustling 19th Century cityscape comes to life. For an entire weekend, hundreds of costumed vendors and performers will provide a look at the pomp and pageantry of the British Empire, at a time when commercial and cultural ties provided a strong connection between London and Texas' largest and richest city.

Basically, Galveston stays very busy all year round; we don't let a little cold and wind let us stop the fun!

More than a million lights, animated displays and live entertainment adorn the pyramids of Moody Gardens(I'm sure you're familier with THIS place by now) along a mile-long trail during the annual Festival of Lights. New this year Festival of Lights will feature a Snow Zone play area for kids and an ice skating rink. Open Thursday through Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. through December 16th. Open nightly December 17th through January 2nd.

Relive the story of Christ's birth through fresh eyes and recapture the wonder of God's miraculous gift during the Imagine Christmas Dinner & Show at Moody Gardens, December 16th thru 26th . Imagine Christmas combines inspiring music, beautiful dance and imaginative aerial acrobatics to tell the story of Christ's birth in a way that evokes child-like wonder and amazement. Nightly live performances include a sumptuous holiday buffet dinner and Festival of Lights ticket.

Holiday-themed films will also be featured in the Moody Gardens IMAX 3D Theater, Ridefilm Theater, and 4D Special FX Theater. Happy Feet 4D, Santa vs the Snowman 3D, The Light Before Christmas 3D, and Toy Story III 3D are a stunning animated films that fill the Giant Screen with lavish details that bring a whole new dimension to the holidays.
