This company has been designing and building them for a long time and you could venture to say that they are the experts when it comes to spiral stair systems. I haven't asked them but I imagine you could have your helix up and a slide downward for those fast getaways. Stick with the powder coat if you're seeking those long banister rides and eliminate the ornamental newel for a "best" finish.
