Hosting a holiday party in your home? Stressed out? No need for that! There is a way to organize your time and life so that you don't gain too many gray hairs over it all. Here are some quick tips for your holiday get together.
1. Keep a list. There are probably a million tiny details running through your mind that you're trying to keep track of. Write it down and you can rest easy that you won't forget a thing.
2. Do your homework. By that I mean, do all the cooking/baking/cleaning that you can ahead of time. Don't try to get it all done the day of. That will make you a hot mess.
3. Buy your treats in bulk so you don't run out. You can go to stores like Costco & Sam's to buy mass containers of nuts or crackers that will keep your guests' tummies from rumbling during your gathering.
4. Traditional decor is not always the most ideal. Go with something that might be unexpected, but still has some charm. Arrange a bowl of vintage ornaments, for example.
5. Don't sweat the small stuff. If you have been piling things in your guest bedroom for the past 2 months, don't feel like you need to have a week long organizing session for one night of people at your house. Simply stack in a corner, keep the lights off, and shut the door. If your guests are polite, they won't go peaking behind all your closed doors. And even if they do, no one expects perfection out of your house!
6. You don't have to have a seat at the table for everyone. People can mill around the buffet area, and stand and talk. Besides, who wants to have a formal sit down kind of party anyways? (unless it is a dinner party, of course).
7. Make a play-list of festive songs you want played ahead of time so you don't have to rush over to change the song on the stereo every time.
8. Keep some spare gifts on hand for the unexpected gift giver. You don't want to be caught off guard with no excuse! Maybe buy a few holiday scented candles and wrap them in some festive tissue paper. You'll be glad you did when this situation presents itself!
Well, those are 8 secrets for your successful holiday bash! Have fun! And while you're having fun, may as well look at some of our homes on College Station Homes & Lago Vista Homes.
