The Bogle Water Tower has been a source of debate in recent years. Some residents of nearby developments consider the tower an eyesore and want it torn down. Others want it preserved as a monument to the neighborhood's past. The city has expressed some interest in using the site for a municipal well, but the tower would have to torn down.
The tower originally provided water to a neighborhood that was home to workers at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber company's cotton-farming operation in Chandler. The cotton grown there was used in tires and later aircraft construction during World War II. Some of the original buildings from the community have been preserved as part of the Bashas' headquarters complex.
The tower is no longer functional and its paint is peeling, it may be an eye sore to some, but it's the history of what makes up Chandler Arizona. However, the Chandler Historical Society has launched a campaign to save it...and with luck, we hope that they do! :)
