SUPERCLEANER

A few months ago I shared a recipie, if you will, on how to get a dirty looking dishwasher sparkling again.  Many of us have had older homes for sale, where we cringed when a buyer would peek inside.

  dishwasher

Well here I was - your favorite Shell Knob Realtor - with a dingy looking dishwasher today - so I took my own advice and removed all the lime and calcium build up with a magic potion.

Are you ready for the quick fix?  Get 6 pkg of sugar free lemonade mix, put it in the dishwasher where you would normally put the soap, run on short cycle and  VOILA you have a squeaky clean machine!  Costs you maybe a dollar?

Really, I wonder what else that would work for?  Do you think you could soak pans in that or wipe down stainless.  Thanks for sharing!  This is the kind of wacky stuff that you would never find anywhere else!

Oh, your going to love this - my graphic word for this post is "dasheen"  too funny

Kate: That's a good question that I haven't explored, but people with well water are often the ones who have the worst hard water build-up.

Yes, Daniel - as I recall (native Michiganer here) you might have some hard water there too.

Leigh:  I think you are right.  Both products have citric acid, and both would give a nice citrus smell.  Thanks for bringing that to our attention.

I'm grocery shopping today Joan, and you can bet I'll remember the sugar-free lemonade.  I have never heard of this before!

Joan, I tried it this morning and a bit ago opened up my dishwasher and it looked BRAND NEW!  It wasn't bad to begin with, but oh my I couldn't believe the difference!

Glad you liked it Kris.  We have very hard water, and I can recall spending $5 or $6 for a one shot cleaner, that didn't do as well as this.

BTW - I grew up in NW Detroit.
