Thanks for coming back to another weekly review of California wine and wonderful places to visit in and around wine country.
This week I'm going to share a great find discovered during a recent visit to the tasting room at Napa Valley's Sequoia Grove Winery. After ordering a tasting and making it far down the list, the bartender presented the 2008 Rebellious Red and announced proudly, "It's made out of grapes and its wine."
End of story.
Rebellious Red is a great all-purpose red table wine that is fine on its own and great with food that you'd usually pair with a solid red wine. It retails for $34 per bottle and I picked up several. They won't talk much about what's in it, but I've run out and will be going back next week for more.
Sequoia Grove is a great producer of high quality reds, but don't skip the whites. Add this tasting room to your next trip to the Valley. Great atmosphere, great wines.
