Can This iPhone 4 Wide Angle Lens Case Replace Agent Traditional Cameras?

This is a great post on the Iphone4...here is a link to an actual home tour shot with the Iphone 4 with the wide angle which is actually at 14mm.  http://www.hdhat.com/component/content/article/92-iphone-video-sample.html  also here is a link to a home tour shot with the Itouch4 from Apple with a wide angle lens(12mm) ultra wide http://www.hdhat.com/component/content/article/77-itouch4.html  it should be noted that the Iphone4 shoots far better pictures but the Touch4 shoots wider more stable footage.  In fact the Touch4 shoots some of the most stable footage when handheld and walking with the camera that I have seen.

http://www.realestateappraisertips.info/ - Real Estate Appraiser Tips: Using iPhone 4 Wide Angle Lens Case For Appraisal Photos!  Can an appraiser or real estate agent switch to using ONLY their iPhone for taking home appraisal photos?  Before upgrading to the 4, I used my 3 to take and email me final inspection photos for closings.   And, The iPhone adds so much valuable data to a photo by default!  See the conversation below.

When I saw this wide angle lens "case", I just had to have it for many reasons.  The uses I see are:

1.) Taking wide angle lens "photos" equivalent to approximately 16mm, per Mark Passerby at HdHat.com.

2.) Shooting wide angle video for appraisal projects, appraiser marketing and or agent home listing tours.   See some sample videos here!

3.) For the added data the iPhone adds by default to a photo.  Below are screen shots from the "Photo Info" iPhone app.  I've asked Bryan McDonald at REBliss.com Blog to explore this for real estate professionals.  REBliss.com is a blog dedicated to reporting on technology for real estate applications and is updated regularly.

4.) Shooting wide angle video for Appraiser Video Blogging and Appraiser Marketing.  This is a video I shot with my iPhone 4 on-site with wide angle lens and Audio Technica ATR 3350 lavalier mic plugged in for better audio quality.  I also uploaded this video on-site to YouTube.

This is the equipment I used to make this video inside my suv.

This is my iPhone 4 with the HdHat Wide Angle Lens Slip-on "Case".  The case is easily removed and is great for wide angle photos and home listing video tours.

You might have seen my setup at RainCamp Houston with the HdHat Wide Angle Lens "Case" where I was able to shoot photos and upload them to Flickr and Facebook on the spot along with video to YouTube.  There were dozens of curious Active Rain members stop by to check out the setup.

This is one example of my before and after results using the HdHat Wide Angle Lens "Case"

Can an appraiser or real estate agent switch to using ONLY their iPhone 4 for taking home appraisal photos?  Yes on Exterior and Maybe on Interior!  Exterior photos would be acceptable for sure.  Interior Photos?  When the wide angle lens case is installed, you can't use the iPhone 4 flash and actually you must turn it off or it will distort the photos.  So, when there is adequate lighting inside the home to take interior photos with the iphone 3 or 4, then it would work.  However, if there isn't adequate lighting, then an appraiser would need to use their regular appraisal camera.

I'm currently also considering the purchase of this HDHat.com add-on adapter to achieve 16mm wide angle photos with flash.

Although the set up is amazing, I don't think the quality is there yet. At least not for the higher end homes market.

Interesting, as I am a HUGE Mac guy, my iPhone4 never leaves my side.

The Iphone4 does great in ideal conditions.

IPHONE4 - On of the places the Iphone4 shines is in capturing "stock" community footage while you are out and about.  Then use a simple $15 green screen with your iphone if you wish to record and talk about different things in the community...a neighborhood ...ie. mix match etc.  That same "stock" community footage can be mixed and matched to go with different green screen conversations and video blog posts etc.   We will be blogging alot on this over the next couple weeks.

For higher end tours a camera like the Sony HX-1 is simple to use...shoots great photos, video and instant panoramics.  Most importantly the HX1 has a quick exposure adjustment to quickly brighten the video footage and photos in fact of the 1000's of photos we have taken with the HX1 we have never turned the flash on....simply dial up the manual setting and shoot.  Full review of that here http://www.hdhat.com/real-estate-video-tours-tutorials/sony-hx1-camera-review.html  We edit real estate video footage now for several hundred agents and many many are using the Sony HX1. HDHat makes the only wide angle lens that works with the HX1 which enables the HX1 to shoot at around 18mm.

I will post an Iphone blogpost later today as well with more things you can do with this amazing phone.

It looks like the TCPH is a phone case that can fit onto a tripod?  Did you make this or is it available for sale somewhere?  I have adapted a few cases for this (thanks to you), but the one in the photo above looks different.  I'm still hesitant to use the clamp in fear of my phone (or the clamp) falling off.  You use it more inside or outside the car?  Thanks!
