SO YOU'VE DECIDED TO BUY A HOME... Part 3

Here is when you decide how you want to proceed with this process. When purchasing a home, you often will not have to pay for an agent. This is generally the seller's responsibility. To help streamline the process of finding your perfect home, let an agent do the legwork for you. Really do your homework when selecting an agent though, you want to make sure you work with someone who has your best interest in mind and listens to you in determining where and for what you are looking.

When evaluating the homes that you like, have a list of questions prepared and keep them with you. Your questions might include:

The name of the school district

What are the area taxes currently being paid

Why is the seller selling

What is the neighborhood like, and how are the neighbors.

Each of you are unique so create your list based upon what is important to you. You might also want to know:

Any improvements the current owner made to the home,

The age of the mechanical systems (heat, plumbing, air conditioning)

The name of the builder, and date the house was built

If you find a home you really like, you may want to research the neighborhood by walking around and conversing with neighbors. Find out if the atmosphere is conducive to your needs and family's desires.

The lesson here is to do your homework and make sure the person you are looking to use is more qualified and can meet your needs better than we can.
